A Sci-Fi Tale For the Next Generation

Let me tell you, I am not your regular Sci-Fi fan. Not me. But the paranormal does intrigue me, for the simple reason that it defies logic yet conforms to some unexplained laws of, well, physics? Well, it is not in me to judge those ardent star gazing types, who wait for the calling from our faraway alien brothers.

Yet, despite my tendecy to steer clear of the Sci-Fi genre, I was strangely captivated by the review of this movie, Man From Earth. And no, it's not one of those tried and true 'alien captures planet Earth and the good guys save the world' formula story. Nope, not this one. What's so queer about this movie though is that the storyline is as incredible as it is real. Well, at the risk of putting in a spoiler, it basically deals with a professor who claims to be a 140,000 year old caveman, a Cro-Magnon man to be precise. And the movie follows his trying to convince a group of his fellow colleagues at the University, men of Science, who find it hard to believe him, even though they cannot disregard the subject. The Biologist in the story admits it is theoritically possible, a glitch in the human immune system that makes it flawless, a perfect man. Now, what kind of possibilities that gives to the human race?

Well, I am not going to give away the entire plot, which by the way ends rather abruptly in my opinion. Nevertheless, it is ample food for thought, and a great cinema experience by all standards. Definitely not to be missed.
